Celeste Glasgow

Queensland Health, QLD, Australia

  • This delegate is presenting an abstract at this event.
Dr Celeste Glasgow has over 20 years’ experience specialising in Hand Therapy and graduated with her PhD from the University of QLD in 2012. She is a past President of the AHTA (2002-2004) and has held many other different AHTA executive roles over the years, including membership secretary, vice president, QLD Divisional representative, chair of advocacy and research subcommittees. She is currently a member of the AHT Credentialing Council. Through her research endeavours she has made a substantial contribution towards the practice of hand therapy and the management of joint stiffness and contracture. This has influenced practice internationally. Dr Glasgow has mentored many therapists over the years and has helped many, many patients regain functional use of their hand and improved quality of life. She is both a talented clinician and researcher and enjoys the opportunity to work in both capacities as an Advanced Practitioner in Hand Therapy within the Occupational therapy department at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. She will share with us this morning her journey as a researching clinician and the influences that have helped to plot her path along the way. It is her hope that this will help to de-mystify the journey of research from conception to reality and translation into clinical practice, as well as to encourage others not to fear this process.
