Lauren is an Accredited Hand Therapist (as awarded by the Australian Hand Therapy Association) and Certified Hand Therapist (USA). She has been the Hand Therapy Unit Head at Sydney Hospital, a quaternary referral centre for traumatic hand injuries, since 2014. Lauren gained her PhD from the University of Sydney in 2016, for thesis titled “Optimising outcomes following proximal phalangeal fracture fixation” from which 4 papers have been published. An invited panel speaker at the IFSHT/IFSSH combined congress in Berlin in June this year, Lauren has been awarded Best Scientific Paper at the Australian Hand Therapy Association National Conference on three occasions for her research into finger fractures, and has also published and presented on management of thumb extensor tendon injuries. She is an invited Lecturer on hand injuries at the University of Western Sydney School of Physiotherapy, an invited reviewer for hand journal submissions and university honours theses, and since 2010 has been a member of the Australian Hand Therapy Association Research and Scholarship Committee.
