Tracy graduated from Simmons College, Boston Massachusetts, as a Dean’s list scholar with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation in 1983 and completed her Masters in Hand Rehabilitation in Milan in 2008. Tracy’s early career began in the United States where she worked in a variety of clinical areas including neurorehabilitation, burns, orthopaedics, sports medicine and upper limb rehabilitation. She then moved to Italy in 1991 and dedicated her time to isokinetic rehabilitation and lecturing on hand and upper limb therapy. In 1999 Tracy began her own private hand therapy practice ‘Studio Fairplay’ in Bologna, Italy. Since then Tracy has continued to run her busy private clinic as well as providing a specialist hand therapy service for the Modena Policlinic Hand Surgery Department with a focus on patients with congenital hand malformations. Over the past 10 years Tracy has shared her extensive clinical expertise and knowledge through her roles as professor and guest lecturer in hand therapy at universities in both Italy and Sweden. Tracy has also made significant contributions to the hand therapy profession through numerous international presentations, over 20 publications in the English and Italian language, and authoring chapters in books on Dupuytren’s disease, hand and wrist evaluation, and neuroproprioceptive rehabilitation of the wrist. Tracy’s contribution to the international hand therapy profession is evidenced by the many professional chairs she has held including President of the European Federation of Societies for Hand Therapy (EFSHT) in 2010-2012, EFSHT President Elect (2008-2010), EFSHT & IFSHT Italian Delegate (2003-2006), International Society for Sport Traumatology of the Hand (ISSPORTH) Hand Therapist Representative (2011-2013) and therapists membership commission (2014-present). She is also currently the AIRM (Italian Society of Hand Therapists) Chairman of Scientific Committee and is on the Scientific Review Committee for the IFSHT 2016 Conference in Buenos Aires. This is Tracy’s first time to Western Australia and we are so excited to have her as our international keynote speaker and can’t wait to hear her new trends from across the globe!
